Overview

The FP&A Analyst within the Financial Planning & Analysis team will develop a thorough understanding of the business, the key performance indicators, and current business trends. This position will be responsible for the synthesis of information from multiple data sources into meaningful metrics/solutions that enhance shareholder value by supporting business units to achieve their strategic goals. Analyst will communicate performance issues/opportunities to business leaders and aid in training the organization to enhance financial acumen.

 

Analyst should be a self-starter with a diagnostic disposition and curiosity to dig into details and find solutions to reach objectives. Customers are often Line of Business senior and executive management. Analyst must be able to work in a team and individual setting managing multiple priorities with very little management oversight. Analyst must also have a willingness to learn additional business processes, modeling techniques, reporting, and develop solutions that transform how the FP&A team advises our business partners to meet strategic objectives.

 

This position may be filled as a Level I or II.  Additional responsibilities and qualifications apply.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data, build financial models, test hypotheses, find root causes, develop prototypes, forecast performance, create reports, generate insights, present findings, make specific and actionable recommendations, and influence business decisions.
  • Proactively identify and surface opportunities to increase efficiency and improve our business processes, conversion rates, revenue generation, and efficiency across Trustmark and your assigned business function.
  • Work with Data Analysts, Business Analysts, Business Unit Finance Officers, BI Analysts, Team Leads, and other business unit leaders to empower data-backed decision-making at all levels of the company.
  • Interface with business unit and executive stakeholders to prioritize and present work and to meet expectations for timelines, accuracy, quality, and overall business impact.
  • Independently manage projects from initiation through completion, ensuring milestones are achieved, timelines are met, and desired business outcomes are delivered.
  • Leads discussions and meetings requiring minimal management oversight.
  • Associates are expected to perform all additional duties as assigned.

Level II Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support the development, reporting, and benchmarking of key corporate operational metrics in monthly, and quarterly reporting packages (e.g., Board of Directors materials, Audit and Finance Committee, Executive reporting, Investor Deck slides, etc.).
  • Support the annual budgeting and strategic planning process.
  • Challenge conventional thinking by introducing innovative ideas, driving continuous improvement, and serving as a proactive agent of change to enhance organizational effectiveness and business outcomes.
  • Associates are expected to perform all additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Level I Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, mathematics or related field
  • 2 years corporate finance or FP&A experience, with strong excel spreadsheet skills
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to identify trends, evaluate business performance, interpret complex data, and provide actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Experience conducting market, industry, and competitive analyses, including evaluating business opportunities, investment decisions, financial performance, and returns using metrics such as ROI and NPV.
  • Working knowledge of financial principles, accounting concepts, and key business performance indicators, with the ability to compile, analyze, interpret, and summarize data from multiple sources to develop recommendations.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful, with a proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and take ownership of results while contributing to team success.
  • Adaptable and capable of thriving in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities and business needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate work products.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with experience in data analysis, financial modeling, reporting, and presentation development.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive, confidential situations and information.

Level I Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 to 3 years Banking or Financial Services experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Knowledge of Hyperion Essbase and reporting tools or similar software
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft or similar ERP software
  • Knowledge of OBIEE, Power BI, Cognos, or other business intelligence dashboard tools
  • FP&A, Data Analytics, or similar certification

Level II Qualifications:

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:  Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse requiring hand and wrist manipulation, while viewing computer screens.
