Overview

The Access Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring the physical security of employees, customers, and facilities by implementing access control policies and protocol for Trustmark facilities. This role assigns access based on established protocol and maintains access control permissions, working with Trustmark staff and external vendors to ensure optimal performance. 

Responsibilities

  • Controlling, monitoring & diagnosing problems that require repair for all Trustmark’s facilities that have card access systems.
  • Assisting Security Console Supervisor with daily operational responsibilities, including alarm activations, video review, and emergency response procedures.
  • Grant, modify, and revoke access rights for associates, tenants, and contractors based on their roles and permissions.
  • Working with vendors to ensure proper installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of card access/alarm-related hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves data network communications problems.
  • Sending, reviewing, and filing cardholder reports for auditing purposes.
  • Continuously monitor access points, review logs, and conduct security audits to detect unauthorized activity and ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Maintaining the cardholder database and holiday calendar regularly.
  • Maintain accurate records and detailed logs of all access control activities, including issuing and returning access cards/wristbands.
  • Receives and assigns service requests to the proper vendor or department.
  • Manage the card and wristband inventory.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Education
  • One (1) year of alarm monitoring or dispatcher experience
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and address security vulnerabilities
  • Basic knowledge of network protocols, frame relay, routers, and switches
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to quickly develop strong working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Capable of maintaining a professional bearing under stressful situations/emergencies
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage time and multiple assignments efficiently
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information while maintaining confidentiality
  • Basic computer skills, including Word and Excel
  • Ability to use network troubleshooting tools and software
  • Ability to communicate with network providers, PC hardware personnel, and communications equipment vendors
  • Card access management and/or law enforcement dispatcher experience preferred
  • Knowledge of alarm monitoring, card access management, and experience with digital video systems preferred

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:  Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screens.
