Overview

Participate in the Business Analytics Development Program for a minimum of twelve months. Program is designed to help aspiring graduates develop a broad knowledge base through mentorship and development of technical skills (SQL, R, Python, OBIEE, Power BI), analytics capabilities (data analysis, metric development, insight generation, storytelling), and knowledge of Trustmark’s business units, operations, and organizational functions.  

 

Upon successful completion of the Development Program, associate will transition to a Business Intelligence Analyst role supporting one or more of our business units/functions.  In this role, you will be responsible for providing senior business leaders with crucial insights and recommendations for improvement. You will combine strong business acumen with analytics know-how to define metrics, measure performance, investigate behavior, diagnose root causes, develop dashboards/reports, conduct in-depth analysis, inform business strategy, and present the story, insights, and recommendations at the executive level.

Responsibilities

 

  • Analyze data, build models, test hypotheses, find root causes, develop prototypes, forecast performance, create reports, write SQL queries, conduct A/B tests, generate insights, present findings, make specific and actionable recommendations, and influence business decisions.
  • Proactively identify and surface opportunities to increase efficiency and improve our business processes, conversion rates, revenue generation, and efficiency across Trustmark and your assigned business function.
  • Work with Data Analysts, Business Analysts, Report Developers, Business Intelligence Analysts, Team Leads, and other leaders across the broader Analytics Center of Excellence to empower data-backed decision-making at all levels of the company.
  • Interface with executive stakeholders to prioritize and present work and to meet expectations for timelines, accuracy, quality, and overall business impact.

 

In The First Week, Expect To

  • Onboard and integrate into Trustmark, and quickly begin learning about Trustmark’s history, culture, and vision.
  • Meet your Business Analytics Mentors and get to know your cohort and other key members of the Business Intelligence team.

 

In The First Month, Expect To

  • Further your understanding of key statistical concepts, metrics development, and business analysis best practices.
  • Learn or improve your SQL skills including how to sort and filter data, and how to access and examine large datasets.
  • Acquire or improve the skills to utilize OBIEE, Power BI, Cognos or other business intelligence software.

  

In Your First 3 Months, Expect To

  • Train on Trustmark’s business model, key KPIs, business drivers, and operational processes that support Trustmark’s strategic vision and future growth.
  • Dive into Data Analytics at Trustmark, sources of data and calculation methods, and learn more about building certified dashboards in OBIEE, Power BI, etc. *Participate in functional deep dives, where you will learn the inner workings of our Business Unit Strategy, Product Campaigns, Technology Initiatives, Talent Operations, and Business functions.
  • Sharpen your presentation skills and learn how to build Executive-level business analytics presentations.

 

In The First 6 Months, Expect To

  • Be assigned to your first independent role on Trustmark’s Business Analytics Team as either a Business Intelligence Analyst, a Data Analyst, or a Business Analyst. *Begin supporting leadership with relevant insights and reports for regular committee working groups or leadership meetings.

 

In The First 12 Months, Expect To

  • Begin to solve real business problems as a team that will move the needle on key performance metrics and financial performance.
  • Strengthen your business analytics skills and continue your learning path as you excel in your new role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business, MIS, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA 
  • Possess strong analytical and quantitative skills that fuel your passion for identifying and investigating patterns and trends
  • Working knowledge of probability and statistics, experience with process improvement is a plus.
  • Resourceful. You should be a self-starter who thrives on the freedom and accountability that comes with managing your own time and work.
  • Adaptable. Comfortable managing changing priorities and learning new skills.
  • Ownership. You are a dependable team member who takes responsibility for your success as well as the success of the entire team.

  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Prior experience with MS Office and proficiency with Excel
  • Knowledge of OBIEE, Power BI, Cognos, or other business intelligence dashboard tools preferred
  • Knowledge of SQL, R, Python, HTML, XML, CSS or similar skills preferred
  • Knowledge of data warehouse, data governance, ETL tools/processes preferred
  • Data Analytics or similar certification preferred

 

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:  Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screens.
