Overview

The Financial Advisor Development Associate (FADA) program is designed to provide training and support to prepare selected candidates for a successful career as a Financial Advisor. This position serves as a key point of contact for client interactions, assists with investment operations, executes trades (once licensed), and supports marketing and relationship management efforts. It is designed as a professional developmental role for individuals pursuing a long-term career in financial advising.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Training & Registration:

 

  • Attend designated classes and training
  • Obtain Life, Accident, and Health Insurance License
  • Obtain Securities Required Licensing
    • Securities Industry Essentials (SIE)
    • Series 7
    • Series 66 or (Series 63 & Series 65)

 Compliance & Administrative Functions

 

  • Maintain client files and compliance requirements for a FINRA compliant branch office
  • Maintain accurate and FINRA-compliant client records and filing systems
  • Support marketing campaigns and event coordination
  • Serve as back-up support for other assistants during absences

 Client Service & Operational Support (once licensed)

 

  • Serve as the first point of contact for TFS Firm client inquiries and provide service in a professional and efficient manner
  • Open and service investment accounts for individuals, businesses, and retirement plans
  • Process money movements, securities transfers, and execute trade orders
  • Prepare customized client meeting reports and investment presentations

 Sales & Advisory Support (once licensed)

 

  • Participate in the preparation and delivery of financial planning solutions under supervision
  • Maintain familiarity with current investment products, market trends, and developments affecting financial markets
  • Providing advice to customers on personal investment products, and suitable investment strategies
  • Contribute to new client acquisition and relationship development through marketing support and follow-up outreach

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Knowledge of: 

  • Economic and accounting principles and practices, financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Basic principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.

 Skill in: 

  • Preparing and delivering clear, effective, and professional presentations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to identify the needs of clients through effective questioning and listening techniques.

Ability to: 

  • Demonstrate persistence in the face of obstacles and maintain optimism in the face of rejection.
  • Accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively in high stress situations.
  • Effectively communicate portfolio losses while preserving client loyalty.
  • Provide a high level of client service with a strong focus remaining on what’s best for their personal wealth management.
  • Network in the community and effectively market him or herself and Trustmark Financial Services.

Qualifications

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A) from four-year College or university preferred, and a minimum of four (4) years working experience, including sales (preferably intangible) or business experience demonstrating achievement preferred.

  • An equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training as approved by Human Resources. 

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Series 7 & 66 or ability to obtain within 1 year from start of program
  • Life, Accident, Health, and Variable Annuity or ability to obtain within 1 year from start of program.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screens.
