Overview

The purpose of this role is to support the processes that ensure data integrity and accuracy  for required regulatory annual filings for the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) and Small Business/Small Farm (CRA) Loan Application Registers (LARs).  Additionally, the role requires interpretation of the data through statistical and trend analysis to determine fair lending risk exposure for the bank.

 

Position may be filled as a Level II or Level III (additional responsibilities and qualifications are applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain LARs by:
    • Ensuring the LARs are complete and accurate throughout the year
    • Ensuring all reportable applications, loans, or line data is being received in the Data Warehouse
    • Maintaining and updating data in the data collection software, as needed
    • Perform periodic reviews of the LARs to ensure data integrity
  • Review reports to detect and correct errors on reportable applications, loans, and lines
  • Assist in performing reviews of validity edits, statistical edits, and quality edits to assure accuracy of the LARs
  • Work with business lines to ensure that identified exceptions are cleared and errors are corrected
  • Assist with special projects assigned by the Regulatory Reporting Compliance Manager and/or the Fair and Responsible Banking Director
  • Stay current on various databases’ capabilities and enhancements that affect review and verification processes
  • Provide back up for the other Regulatory Reporting Analyst as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities for Level III:

  • Coordinate, assist and maintain LARs by performing data imports, downloads, exports, report generation, and data capture.
  • Assist in the coordination and performance of data integrity reviews. Evaluate any deficiencies for root cause(s) and make recommendations to management to correct deficiencies to line of business (LOB) systems and processes.
  • Assist in submission processes including coordination and perform reviews of logic, validity edits, statistical edits, and quality edits to assure the accuracy of the LARs.
  • Participate in real-time analytical analysis of LAR and Non-LAR data used in developing reviews and processes for the analytical team. Support analytic performance and assessment in all lending lines.
  • Assist the Regulatory Reporting Compliance Manager in determining the bank’s training needs.
  • Work in conjunction with department, business line management and IT with incorporating any regulatory change(s) impacting regulatory reporting.
  • Provide guidance, as needed, to Regulatory Reporting Analysts regarding accurate LAR reporting, fair lending best practices and other issues as they arise.
  • Handle special projects that analyzes and interprets LAR data assigned by the Regulatory Reporting Compliance Manager and/or the Fair and Responsible Banking Director.
  • Assist the Regulatory Reporting Compliance Manager with internal audits, regulatory exams, and compliance, including ensuring policies and procedure documents are kept up to date

Qualifications

  • 4 year college degree with 1+ years related work experience, preferably in regulatory reporting (HMDA/CRA LAR) in a midsize or large bank environment
    -OR-
    2 year college degree with 2+ years related work experience, preferably in regulatory reporting (HMDA/CRA LAR) in a midsize or large bank environment
    -OR-
    High School graduate with 4+ years related work experience, preferably in regulatory reporting (HMDA/CRA LAR) in a midsize or large bank environment
  • General knowledge of the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA/Reg C.)
  • General knowledge of the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA/ Reg BB.)
  • General knowledge of policies, practices, and operations that impact data collection and reporting
  • Familiar with using loan underwriting and servicing systems
  • General knowledge of federal and state banking laws and regulations
  • Advanced Computer skills (Excel, Database management)
  • Ability to work independently and as a team for collaboration when needed
  • Attention to detail and quality, accurate, organized, and dependable
  • Good communication skills (presentation and written)

       Preferred:

  • Knowledge of lending (mortgage, consumer, small business) bank-specific policies, practices, and operations
  • Knowledge of loan underwriting and servicing systems such as: ACTion, Partners, B2B, FIS, M&I, or other like platforms
  • Knowledge of specialized analytical software such as: CRA Wiz, Lending Patterns, Risk Exec, or other like platforms

 

Additional Qualifications Required for Level III:

  • 4 year college degree with 2+ years related work experience, preferably in regulatory reporting (HMDA/CRA LAR) in a midsize or large bank environment

    High School graduate with 5+ years related work experience, preferably in regulatory reporting (HMDA/CRA LAR) in a midsize or large bank environment
  • Advanced knowledge of the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA/Reg C.)

  • Advanced knowledge of policies, practices, and operations that impact to data collection and reporting
  • Adept at using loan underwriting and servicing systems
