  • Overview

    The purpose of this job is to be responsible for prospecting, soliciting, quoting, and selling Commercial Property and Casualty insurance and services.

     

    A Business Insurance Consultant specializes in the production of all lines of Commercial Property and Casualty insurance for wide variety of business related risks. Majority of book of business sold and serviced is in various types of business operations.

    Responsibilities

    • Achieves or exceeds annual assigned book of business goal by managing the retention of existing accounts, providing service coordinated with Account Executive (if assigned), Account Manager, Claims and Marketing  per standard servicing procedures as well as new business sales.
    • Produce new commercial accounts by developing and executing business calling plan on leads and prospects in order to develop business relationship leading to designing of insurance plan including
    • recommendations of coverage.  Create insurance proposals and makes sales presentations to prospective and existing clients on new and renewal business in order to make sale. Must produce minimum new business commission of $50,000 or as assigned and must also meet or exceed annual production goal assigned by Agency.
    • Participate in seminars and other training to maintain required licenses and for knowledge and skill development

    Qualifications

    • Thorough knowledge and understanding of all lines of Commercial Property and Casualty insurance coverage and contracts.
    • Must be aggressive/assertive, a self-starter with the ability to influence others
    • Demonstrated effective presentation skills through both verbal and written communications
    • Must have substantive sales skills
    • College degree or equivalent required
    • Must have all licenses as required by all applicable State Department(s) of Insurance within 6 months of hire date
    • Maintain necessary licenses and continuing education required for license renewal
    • CIC, CRIS, CRM or CPCU Designation preferred
    • Must be willing to travel as required
