  • Overview

    To support the bank's distributed database environments in all phases. This person will be responsible for installation, configuration, maintenance, security, availability, and protection of the bank's Microsoft SQL Server and DB2 UDB environments. This person will help provide optimize, secure, and protect our enterprise database environments.


    • Provide day-to-day administration of enterprise distributed database environments for Microsoft SQL and IBM DB2

    • Provide performance tuning

    • Assist in writing custom queries and data extracts from various databases

    • Perform installation of database software

    • Create and validate backup and protection strategies

    • Documentation of environment and processes

    • Proactive monitoring and capacity planning of distributed database environments


    • 5+ years in Microsoft SQL design and administration.

    • 5+ years of experience as a database administrator.

    • 3+ years in IBM DB2 design and administration

    • 5 + years of experience managing stored procedures, triggers, functions, views, constraints & indexes using underlying storage architectures as the relate to database storage methodologies

    • Significant experience working with Microsoft SQL Server 2008R2, 2012, 2016, or higher.

    • Moderate experience working with IBM DB2 9.7, 10.1, 10.5 or higher

    • Moderate experience with HADR strategies on IBM DB2 UDB platform

    • Expert-level skill set with SQL language

    • Expert-level skill set with logical and physical database design

    • Significant experience with Microsoft Cluster strategies and High Availability for Microsoft SQL platforms

    • Proficient OS administration skills in Windows Server, AIX, Red Hat Linux, etc.

    • Significant experience managing Microsoft SQL platforms in an enterprise-level environment

    • Database connectivity methodologies such as DB2 Connect, ODBC, etc.

    • Significant experience with high availability solutions in a Microsoft SQL Server environment

    • Experience with database protection strategies using Tivoli Storage Manager, SAN storage, replication, etc.

    • Experience with database consolidation strategies

    • Automation and scripting skills (BASH, KSH, Perl, VBScript, Powershell, etc.)

    • Communication and Time Management skills

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment

    • Willingness to rise to the challenge of working in one of the fastest growing and most dynamic IT environments in Mississippi

    • Willingness and passion to architect, design, and develop a scalable, enterprise-class database environment to support a leading financial institution and its desired market growth and acquisitions.

    • BS degree in Computer Science or similar discipline with 5 years of experience or 7 years equivalent experience. Experience in an enterprise class environment (1000+ users) is preferred.

    • Industry certification is always a plus, but will not be considered in lieu of experience
