  • Overview

    The HMDA Team is responsible for the integrity of HMDA and non-HMDA data that flows to the Analytics team for statistical analysis.  The HMDA Team is also responsible for the HMDA LAR annual submission and subsequent HMDA analysis following the annual filing.

     

    This role is responsible for compiling and submitting an accurate LAR on time by managing a team of HMDA Compliance specialists, interacting with the first line QC HMDA through a monthly/quarterly monitoring process and data submission to the Regulators.

     

    The HMDA manager will report to the Fair Lending Director and will work closely with the Lines of Business, IT, Compliance, Legal, and other risk partners in the development and execution of the Fair Lending program. This role requires knowledge of HMDA reportable fields, data integrity, filing software applications, submission requirements and fair lending principles.

    Responsibilities

    • HMDA Reporting, Analysis, and Monitoring:

      • Under the direction of the Fair Lending Director execute analysis and monitoring procedures designed to detect HMDA reporting data inaccuracies. Perform HMDA analysis following submission
      • Perform periodic data integrity reviews of the HMDA LAR and recommend to management any corrective actions needed to maintain the LARs accuracy. Evaluate any deficiencies found to determine the root cause(s) with applicable management and assist with any necessary corrective actions.
      • Meet required annual HMDA-LAR government (CFPB) filing/reporting deadline.

       

      Training:

       

      • Assist the Fair Lending Director in determining the bank’s HMDA training needs, coordinate program revisions with Corporate Training as necessary, and assist with training delivery as needed.

       

      Regulatory Changes:

       

      • Work in conjunction with department, business line management and IT with incorporating any regulatory change(s) impacting HMDA

       

       

      Consulting:

       

      • Provide guidance, as needed, to associates, line of business and departmental management regarding accurate HMDA reporting, best practices and other issues that may arise. Coordinate research, responses and documentation regarding HMDA issues arising from regulatory agencies.

       

      Non HMDA Data:

       

      • Under the direction of the Fair Lending Director coordinate data flow for the analytics team and develop data validation processes for non HMDA data to support analytic performance and assessment in lending lines not related to mortgage.

     

    Qualifications

    • Preferred in-depth knowledge of HMDA data collection, integrity and submission
    • Preferred prior management experience of 2-3 team members
    • Strong knowledge of fair lending laws and regulations, as well as bank policies, practices, and operations
    • CRA Wiz software knowledge is preferred
    • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and demonstrated ability to provide written reports that accurately and clearly summarize issues and present solutions in an understandable and logical manner
    • Preferred ability to train and coach team members on regulatory changes or system changes
    • Demonstrated ability to develop project plans and independently coordinate and complete projects 
    • Ability to analyze and evaluate the integrity of data and identify trends
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other utility applications
    • Database management (helpful)
    • Detail oriented, desire for accuracy and well organized
    • Independent Decision Making
    • Multi-task oriented
    • Four year undergraduate degree or
    • Five (+) years of progressive related experience – preference in HMDA
